The temporary Robber Jail. Foreign bees are attracted to the hive aromas at the vent. They take some time to find the entrance but are blocked by the bottom mesh. Once they know they cannot get into the hive they then take up time to find their way out of the small entrance in the top mesh. This is all to focus their attention away from the real screen entrance. They give up and go home.
